Back to Alberta!

Last evening the sun set dramatically while the SW wind still howled. However, one can see clear skies under the weather front and this Chinook arch formation promises a warm and calmer day for our drive back into Alberta

Today the Chinook arch is fully formed and a blue sky day is ours.
SO Southern Alberta!

Shining Rocky Mountains welcome us Home!

As the sky predicted, we had mild, dry and calm day on our run back into Calgary.

Our magnificent friends (and neighbours) Barb and Dave welcomed us home with a yummy meal and then we all went off to "Pickin' n Grinnin'", our condo Monday night jam. Rose Lynn enjoyed the music from the audience while the other three played and sang. Other good music-making friends, Walt & Jan, were also just back from a southern winter so it was a joyous evening of song and reunion!

Happy 46th Anniversary (to us)!

Good Start - Windy Finish

Standing wind turbine and hanging windsock on "Gusty Crosswinds" sign
tell the story of our morning's drive through the Judith Basin west of Billings

Many miles of being thrilled by the sight of the snowy Big Belt Mtns

We're now in Shelby MT about 40 miles from Canada - home tomorrow.

Weather was ideal until midday when a giant WSW wind sprung up. It's gusting 35-50 mph right now! Roads are still dry although morning temps were close to freezing and never got over 60F/15C

Pinch Us!

Day 5 of good driving conditions!

Tonight we are in Billings MT in a beautiful location - a treed park-like setting along the Yellowstone River. Bluffs on the far side are shining in the setting sun!

4th Good Day!

In Casper, Wyoming this evening.

The day started cool (40F/ few degrees C) but got to the high 60s F/21 C. This means we have not had to winterize our trailer (move to hotels) and are eating all our meals "at home"! Wind wasn't really a factor although we did catch a few crosswind gusts coming into Casper.

Would love to share some pictures of dramatic storm clouds to the north and the snowy Laramie Mountains to the south close to Casper but both the RV Park internet and our phone signal (data) are very lame!

Here are the pics two days later:

Two More Days on the Road...

....and We're Sleeping in Limon CO Tonight!

We spent last evening in Amarillo with the Littlefield-Carver clan - haven't seen them all for two years and we enjoyed food, games ("42" a domino game local to this area) and music with Daddy Jim and Bill singing and playing. So much fun!

Our drive yesterday was very easy with dry roads & tailwinds; there were a few showers on the edge of Amarillo but nothing to slow us down.

Today was another day of dry roads & tailwinds as we made our way NW out of TX, across the panhandle of OK and on to Limon. Temperatures reached high 70sF / mid 20sC on both days!

Dreams do come true!👌

Hope our luck continues👍

Looking for Dry Roads and Tailwinds....

Image result for dry roads & tailwinds image

Today we start our 4000 km/ 2500 m northwest trek
back to Alberta from deep south Texas!

Our dream came true
dry roads & practically no wind (which is almost as good as tailwinds!).
We made it to Junction TX (west of San Antonio on I10).

Brownsville vs Calgary

Calgary wins the weather war today!

Both cities had similar temperatures but, even though Brownville was a few degrees warmer, it rained here off and on all day while Calgary was dry!

Hope the mild temperatures on the plains hold over the next week as we drive home.
