From our camp in Idaho Falls ID, until we reached Salt Lake City UT, we drove in pouring rain with a headwind. From there, to our stop tonight in Beaver UT, we had intermittent showers and the wind is still blowing strongly from the south this evening!
However we have a few things to be grateful for;

The deep yellow leaves on poplar trees lining the water courses in the mountain canyons and the wide valleys of our route glowed brilliantly for most of our drive today!
Then there was the wind! Before heading south, we had to drive west from Great Falls into a brisk SW wind that prevailed all day. There were times when the winds seemed co-operative and almost quiet, then about 50 km/30 m north of our final destination, Idaho Falls ID, we experienced gusts to 70 kph/45 mph that caused us to slow our pace and then, because of very limited visibility from blowing dust, we were reduced to a crawl.
We learned later from other travellers that Interstate15 had been closed at some point due to the weather and traffic was redirected. Not sure if, or when, it will reopen.
Good day on the road from Calgary to Great Falls.
Big north wind (50 kph/30 mph) blew all day which was great until we had to jog east and the crosswinds rocked us!
Tumbleweeds scooted across fields and roads, a sight that we have not experienced in this part of the world (Texas or Oklahoma more commonly).
Sure hope our journey to Apache Junction AZ brings smiles every day.
We usually find some interesting distractions along the way!
Planning to be on the road to Arizona on Oct 20th. Weather looks good from here with unseasonably warm dry conditions forecasted into the next week in Alberta, Montana and Idaho. Hope it holds!
We've had our flu shots, our shingles shots and Bill has even had his third covid booster! Should be ready to go....
